WEST HAM cult hero Craig Dawson has fans touting him winning the BALLO D’OR after scoring against Lyon in the Europa League.
David Moyes’ lucky Hammers got into the game with their French opponents on Thursday after drawing 1-1 at the London Stadium last week.
And in the first European semi-final in 46 years, iconic hero Dawson stepped up to the top, propelling West Ham ahead in the 38th minute.
The centre-back, whose £2million transfer has come under scrutiny, broke free of his marker and steered his header into the near post.
West Ham grabbed a second just before half-time.
Captain Declan Rice kept his head cool and slotted the ball from the edge of the area into the back net.
And Jarrod Bowen added a historic third place just after the restart, winning the tie 4-1 on aggregate.
Dawson was man of the match in both games of the Europa League quarter-finals game.
The veteran defender has fans urging him to win the Ballon d’Or.
One said on Twitter: “Craig Dawson deserves the Ballon d’Or, a call-up for England and a lifetime waiver from Stella.”

Another said: “Craig Dawson for Ballon D’Or 2022.”
There are also calls that Dawson is on a plane with England to Qatar for the World Cup.
One Hammers fan said: “I see Craig Dawson better in Qatar.”
Dawson or Tyrone Mings? It could become a debate.
One Dawson enthusiast stated, “Craig Dawson should have more claim to Qatar than Mings, he’s been top all season.”
The Englishman also got this third bloody nose in three consecutive games.
Dawson’s good header also means he will score more goals in the quarter-finals of European competitions in the 2020s than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo combined.
