WENDY’S fans have slammed the chain for “betraying” her by hiring a customer favorite.

The fast food joint has decided to discontinue its famous grilled chicken sandwich.

The news was not well received by many chicken enthusiasts.

Lauren Ray took to Twitter share a picture of herself frowning in front of a Wendy’s window.

“Today I found out that Wendy’s has discontinued their grilled chicken sandwich…why did you betray me like that?” she wrote in the caption.

It is not clear where the young woman tried to order her food.

While the plain sandwich is no longer offered, the restaurant still has the grilled chicken variants of its Pretzel Pub and Asiago Ranch Club.

A report from The Street suggested that a leaked memo from the Ohio-based company suggests the sandwich isn’t gone forever, just getting a makeover.

Wendy’s will be adding a brand new grilled chicken wrap to replace the sandwich.

The new item will reportedly launch on March 28, when the chain will replace its previous grilled chicken patties with “new, fully cooked, pre-diced grilled chicken cuts.”

This new chicken is used in the new Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap and a Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad.

“The Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap features grilled white meat chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce and ranch sauce wrapped in a warm flour tortilla,” according to Fast Food Post.

The change suggests Wendy’s is trying to test different items and price points for its customers.

Todd Penegor, the company’s CEO, said that costs and health are both important factors to consider in a call to discuss the chain’s preliminary fourth-quarter results.

“We look at the health of the consumer. I mean, we continue to see a consumer that’s a little tighter,” he said.

Nonetheless, the fast-food industry leader seemed optimistic about Wendy’s future.

“We’re in the right segment of the restaurant business,” he added.
