AMERICA faced a weekend of bloodshed after 13 mass shootings killed 18 and wounded 72 in just two days.
The string of deadly incidents across the US stems from several high-profile shootings over the past two weeks.
Thirteen mass shootings were reported between Friday evening and Sunday evening.
At least five of the incidents took place in a public area, while at least three took place at graduation ceremonies.
According to Insider’s tally, 18 people have died and more than 70 have been injured in incidents across the country.
It comes just weeks after 18-year-old Salvador Ramos shot and killed 18 children and three adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
The latest victim was a 14-year-old girl who was fatally wounded at a mall in Phoenix, Arizona after a fight turned into a shootout.
According to USA Today, around 1 a.m. Saturday, nine people were shot dead in the chaos — both inside the building and in a nearby parking lot.
In addition to the teenager, two women, five men and a teenager were shot and injured.
Police said the two women are in critical condition.
Police Sergeant Andy Williams said a pistol was used after an argument broke out among those gathered for “some sort of party”.
He said: “Many rounds were fired into this crowd as everyone fled the area.”
The shooter was not found.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego tweeted: “Seems we can’t go a day without another mass shooting.
“Time is up. The change must happen now.”
In Tennessee, 14 people were shot dead at a nightclub in Chattanooga early Sunday morning.
Three other people were hit by cars while fleeing the scene.
Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy said two people died from gunshot wounds and another died after being struck by a vehicle.
Cops said 16 of the victims were adults and one a juvenile – and several of them are still in critical condition.
Authorities said several shooters were involved in the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
According to CNN, police believe “one or more of the victims have been targeted.”
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, three people died and 11 were injured after multiple gunmen opened fire in a popular entertainment district on Saturday night.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw told CNN, “At this point, we don’t know if the altercation was between a group of people or if it was related to another group or affiliation.”
She said five firearms were used in the shooting.
Outlaw said: “While many were enjoying a fine day in the city, terrible and unthinkable acts were happening in the popular local and tourist haunt.
“These acts claimed the lives of three people and injured 12 others.
“We mourn the lives lost and the dozens of lives affected by this tragedy.”
One of the suspects was injured by police officers and escaped, while another gunman was believed to have been killed.
The victims were identified as 34-year-old Gregory Jackson, 27-year-old Alexis Quinn and 22-year-old Kristopher Minners.
According to NBC Philadelphia, Minners was celebrating his birthday before his death.
Summerton, South Carolina
In South Carolina, a woman was killed after two cars pulled up at a graduation ceremony in Summerton on Saturday night and opened fire on the crowd, police officers said.
The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office said 60 to 70 rounds were fired before the shooters fled.
The statement said it was unclear if anyone in the crowd returned fire at the gunners.
“It’s not certain if specific people were shot or just randomly fired into the crowd,” police said.
A 32-year-old woman died from gunshot wounds and seven others were injured.
Among the injured were a 12-year-old, a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old, two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old.
Another graduation ceremony in Chester, Virginia ended in the death of a 20-year-old man Friday night.
Seven other people were injured in the shooting.
Two of the injured were hit by a car as the crowd fled the shooting.
Authorities said two separate fights took place at the party before police received calls about the shooting.
Chesterfield County Police Major Brad Badgerow said police found 50 shells fired from four different calibers.
“Whether that means four people fired, I can’t tell you,” Badgerow said.
“But it looks like at least four different weapons were fired.”
The ages of the victims are between 16 and 21 years.
El Paso, Texas
A shooting at another high school graduation in Socorro, near El Paso, Texas, left five teenagers in the hospital.
Two are in critical condition following the incident early Saturday morning.
The shooting happened after a fight broke out between two groups at the party.
Grand Rapids, Michigan
According to MLive, a man was killed in downtown Grand Rapids in the early hours of Sunday morning when gunfire erupted.
Three other men were injured.
Cops have not released the identities of the victims’ ages.
Two people died and two others were injured in a shooting outside a bar in Mesa, Arizona.
Cops said the suspects fled the scene just after 2:30 a.m. local time on Sunday as they rushed to The Lounge Soho.
Mesa Police Sergeant Chuck Trapani said two men, who have not been identified, were found dead in the parking lot with “apparent gunshot wounds.”
Cops said a silver car quickly left the scene when officers arrived.
The car was stopped and three people were arrested at the scene.
Officers searched the car and no gun was found, but police did find a gun on the street.
One of those wounded in the shooting was a security guard, police said.
On Saturday night, 19-year-old Cleveland Raines was killed in a shooting at an abandoned home in Macon, Georgia, police said.
Three other victims, 19-year-old Ralph Hughes, 23-year-old Jarvis Devon Hill and 22-year-old Alizya Sinclair, were injured in the shooting, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Police officers did not say why the victims were in the abandoned house.
An investigation is underway.
On Friday night, 31-year-old Pierre R. Hightower was found dead at the scene of a shooting in Omaha, Nebraska.
Three other people were hospitalized, according to local reports.
Hempstead, New York
A 19-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Hempstead, New York, on Saturday night.
Police are investigating after three other men, ages 23, 31 and 25, were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to their ankles and thighs, according to NBC News.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, four people were shot dead in a party bus incident in the early hours of Saturday morning.
So far, no deaths from the shooting have been reported.
Three people were killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in Saginaw, Michigan.
Two men died at the scene, while a woman died in hospital from her injuries, police said.
Two other men were taken to the hospital and are being treated for injuries.
