“We will also be fighting 20,000 fans” – Reggie Miller in comparison to Trae Young and the mentality it takes to play in arenas like Madison Square Garden

Since last year’s first round playoff series between New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young was public enemy number 1 in Madison Square Garden. Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, who was hated by Knicks fans while playing for Indiana Pacers, shared some of his wisdom on the situation, because he’s been in Young’s position before.

Young is a very confident player and was on full display when the Hawks beat the Knicks in the first round of last year’s playoffs 4-1. Two of the Hawks’ wins came with MSG, including a close 5, in which Trae Young had 36 points to end the Knicks’ season. Young led the game in points in every game at MSG and regularly let the fans know it, embarrassing the crowd and mocking them.

Reggie Miller, similarly, has had her own interactions with Knicks fans in The Garden, most memorably making a breath-taking icon in the direction of Knicks fan, Spike Lee. The photo is one of the indelible images of Miller’s career as one of the league’s most trashy talkers and talkers.

In an article in The Athletic, Miller reflected on his battles with Knicks fans and Young’s recent encounters and any future matches. Miller says:

“The Trae is built just like me – just six or seven inches shorter. He has broad shoulders where we feel we can not only carry our team but also fight 20,000 fans. That’s the mentality you have to have when you step into The Garden.”

The Garden is one of the NBA’s special arenas for home and away players. Young has made it his own and has proven that he has been able to battle the fans like the greats before. Every time he steps onto the field in MSG, he can show off and the fans will likely have some say in the game.

Christmas Day is all about love and spending time with your family and loved ones. However, the NBA had another idea for Trae Young, having him play at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. Knicks fans clearly don’t like Young, and the game is going to be a great TV show.

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young (H&S protocol) is not expected to be released in time for the Christmas Day game against the New York Knicks, federation sources say @YahooSports.

However, Young may not be in the Christmas Day game as he has been through health and safety procedures and is unlikely to be released in time. His absence could be a big blow to NBA ratings on the holiday and keep a game entertained from NBA fans.

The Hawks and Knicks have yet to compete against each other this season and will play in Atlanta on January 15. The next time Young will play in front of fans in New York will be March 22.

Hopefully, Trae Young will be in that game. That game could have been even more fun and lively, as Knicks fans likely won’t be berating Young on Christmas Day. They will have to save them all until March 22.
