The family rented their condo on Lakewood Lane in Schererville, Indiana, without any problems.

But then the parents had two more children.

According to their lease, a maximum of two people were allowed to sleep in each bedroom, according to CBS News.

The family was then threatened with eviction at the beginning of 2021.

“The police have never been here before,” Deborah Rangel Rangel said CBS News by the time.

“I did nothing, nothing wrong except for having two extra babies.”

But these two children represent a violation by the Ranges of their lease.

According to CBS News, the family was notified by Rencon Property Management in August 2020 that they had violated the terms of the lease.

However, documents obtained by CBS showed the Rangels were able to terminate their lease in September before they were served with an eviction notice in October.

“They want me to find a place within a week or a month,” Rangel told the outlet.

“I don’t know – I can’t find a job in the middle of this [the] Pandemic. I lost my job because of this.

“My husband hardly works.

“My biggest concern is time – in the middle of a pandemic.”

Indiana did not extend its eviction moratorium, which began during the pandemic and would have prevented family evictions.

“I just pray,” Rangel said.
