One of the roommates wrote in a Reddit thread called ” r/tifu According to the Reddit user, he had to seek legal advice after his roommate Abbie won the lottery and didn’t tell her friends.

The Reddit user (MyMoneyOurMoney) said that he and his three friends he lived with, Mark, Luke and Abbie, would buy lottery tickets with money from a joint account.

One night when the men were out, Abbie stayed with her friend and the next day, Abbie was “very distant,” according to the Reddit user.

Abbie’s friend then gave it all away when she asked the Reddit user what he would do with his winnings.

The roommate then shared an initial post on Reddit about the situation of getting legal counsel.

After receiving overwhelming support from Reddit users, the roommate told friends Mark and Luke that he might seek legal advice and confront Abbie about the lottery money.

While Luke appeared on board, Mark didn’t want to be part of the plan and was supportive of Abbie, the Reddit user said.

Things got even worse when the Reddit user finally confronted Abbie about winning the lottery.

“Verbal abuse, things thrown away, a fork thrown in the wall, it felt like forever at the time but looking back it all happened in a split second,” the Reddit user said in a second post.

“I was screaming that I’m going to get a lawyer before she left.”

Later that evening, Abbie packed up some things and never came back.

To make matters worse, according to the Reddit user, the roommates’ landlord wanted them to leave the house, saying it was because of disruptive behavior and damage.

The Reddit user claimed that while he was looking for a new place to live for himself and his two friends, a secret that Mark was keeping finally surfaced.

According to the Reddit user, Mark spoke to Abbie the day after she started walking away from them.

“She admitted the truth and gave him £80,000 [roughly $101,487 US dollars] to keep quiet about it,” said the Reddit user.

In the end, Mark and the Reddit user also left, and Luke spoke to a lawyer.

The attorney said the roommates had no real case and that they should not take any legal action.

After getting a second opinion, they are told the same thing the first attorney said and they now have more money out.
