Russell Westbrook was limited to just nine points and committed six turns as the LA Lakers fell to their 13th loss of the season to the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night.
Westbrook had a bad game overall as he shot just three of nine from the field and one of four from free throws as the Lakers lost 95-108 to Memphis.
Speaking to the media after the loss on the road, Westbrook announced that every Lakers player would be held accountable for their role on the team.
“Individually, we all have to be in charge of what we do. Understand what our job is in this group and then we have to do it… We know what we have to do. We know when we have to win and win games no matter who’s playing, but this is the NBA. And these people [Memphis Grizzlies] are experts just like us. ”
The 33-year-old added:
“We have to do a better job of taking on the challenge because, we know, when people are playing with the Los Angeles Lakers, they’re going to hit their best shot. We’ve known that since the beginning of the year. We understand that but we have to be able to own our things. ”
Russell Westbrook and LeBron James combine for 11 of the Lakers’ 22 games against Memphis
Russell Westbrook’s remarks came after the Lakers made 22 rotations in a run in which they’ve picked up eight points, leading the first quarter to a loss of 13 late in the game. In addition to Westbrook’s six sales, LeBron James, who recorded Double career 100 In the game, there are also five turnovers.
It helps the Lakers match their season-high in a single game after they had 22 losses to the Miami Heat on Nov. 10. The Los Angeles brand now holds the 13-13 record following a loss to Memphis and ranked sixth in the Western Conference Rankings.
It was a disappointing loss for Westbrook, James and the Lakers two nights after they beat clear victory against traditional opponents, the Boston Celtics.
Many expect the Lakers to build on that form and develop some sort of winning momentum. However, Purple and Yellow tripped on their way to meet Memphis on Thursday. The Lakers will now visit Oklahoma City for their next regular game in 24 hours.
