We bought an abandoned resort in my hometown – it’s full of creepy rooms that haven’t been opened in 20 years

A COUPLE have decided to buy an abandoned resort that has been left in terrible condition after decades of absence.

YouTube star Matt Carricker and his wife Meredith Carriker purchased the Guadalupe River Ranch Resort in Boerne, Texas, restoring it to its former glory. But after being abandoned for 20 years, the property looked like a scene from a horror movie.

In one YouTube videouploaded in May (@OffTheRanch), Carriker admitted that renovating the property would be much more difficult compared to previous renovations.

“It’s 900 times worse than the abandoned mansion when we found it and bought it,” he told his subscribers.

The abandoned resort was a fixture in his hometown, with over 40 buildings on the property.

However, after a devastating fire, the resort was left in ruins and was completely closed to the public.

Many of the buildings on the property suffer from significant damage, including missing roofs, destroyed walls and rotting stairwells.

As Carricker examined the few intact buildings, he discovered that the resort had become a hotspot for goats living in beds and suites intended for former clients.

Other places were completely intact from 20 years ago, with perfectly made beds and a no smoking sign on the wall.

The playroom looked particularly spooky, with peeling walls, a missing roof, and even graffiti saying, “Something’s wrong here, leave.”

“So the plan is to find a way to make this work [and] I have to find a way to make money from it because it’s going to be very expensive not only to renovate but also to just run it,” the YouTuber explained.

Carricker’s wife revealed that despite the heavy workload they plan to take on, they have no idea about running a catering business.

“We are nervous and afraid, it is the biggest investment we have ever made and [Meridith] and I did it alone,” he said.

The YouTuber plans to reopen the resort in a few years by gradually unveiling renovated areas.

The couple is just starting to work on their new investments, and fans are already suggesting ideas about what they could do.

“You should definitely leave at least one of the rooms untouched for display. Don’t break the door or go into the room, just leave an impression of what the resort looked like in the past,” one commenter wrote.

“I hope you can make a few horror movies before you get too far into your renovations. “How about a video tour around midnight, just for fun?” another commenter suggested.
