‘We are special’ – Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City and Liverpool have been ‘out of this world’ over the past few seasons

City of Manchester Coach Pep Guardiola believes that the rivalry between his team and Liverpool has been one of the best playgrounds in the world over the past few seasons.

Liverpool have prevented Manchester City from winning a third consecutive title in 2020. In the process, the Red Devils also ended their 30-year wait for a title.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently behind Manchester City in the table, but Guardiola feels his team and Liverpool have been “out of this world” over the past few seasons:

“It was always Barcelona and Madrid (when I was managing in Spain), and with Bayern (in Germany) it was Dortmund, and here in the last years it was Liverpool and ourselves,” said Guardiola.

“Now this season it’s Chelsea (also). But I have to say it just went that way (Liverpool and Man City) because we are special. It’s not because anyone did anything wrong.” What we (Liverpool and City) have done in the last three or four years is unprecedented in this country, never, never, it takes 98 points to become champions when it was 78, 80, 82 before .”

“I think the other opponents, Chelsea, United, Tottenham, played well, but Liverpool and Man City were out of this world. And I’m proud, after six seasons together, five successful years, in January, we’re still there, and in every game we’re still playing,” he added.

Manchester City hope to knock Chelsea out of title race

Manchester City could turn the league title into a two-horse race later today when they face Chelsea at the Etihad.

The Blues are currently 10 points behind Man City, and failure will more or less make them unable to dispute.

Pep Guardiola: “What Liverpool and Manchester City have done in the last three or four years is unprecedented in this country, unheard of. Liverpool and Manchester City are exceptional, not because others have done wrong. ” #awlive [mcfc] https://t.co/XoXjcDDG1J

Guardiola’s men are at their best as they lead the table, and their incredible squad depth means they will be favorites.

Liverpool will hope to keep up with City in the coming weeks, but will have to do so without three key players.

While Man City only lost Riyad Mahrez to AFCON, Liverpool will play at least two games without a trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita.
