A GROUP of nurses have raised £1.2million just days after winning the first lottery game.

The syndicate of 16 from Ontario, Canada will pocket £76,000 each after winning the jackpot prize.

The nurses, who have been working together for 10 years, started their lottery game just under a month ago – and their latest entry was a winner.

“A member of the group checked our ticket and saw the number two and some zeros and said, ‘I think we won something,'” recalled group leader Sonia Correia-Batista.

“I said, ‘That’s nothing, that’s $2 million!'”

The healthcare workers’ group says they have various plans for their win, including buying new cars and completing home renovations.

And Sonia says it’s just a reward for her hard work over the past few years.

“We were all struggling through exhaustion and burnout and this win was an incredible joy for all of us and a great reason to celebrate,” she added.

It turns out the group weren’t the only ones celebrating a joint victory in the region – with successful syndicates across the board.

According to the Daily Hive, it was four years before another group of employees in the Canadian city made a famous lottery win.

It took even longer for 27 friends who raked in $611,000 after ten years of trying.

Group leader Sylvie Bureau said she initially thought the group had won $1,000 when she looked at her ticket.

But when she checked it again, she noticed the extra zeros

“I quickly grabbed my phone and googled ‘how many zeros in a million,'” Bureau joked.

She added that calling everyone at 5 a.m. to share the news was “one of my favorite calls of all time.”

Their winnings come just weeks after a group of UK OAPS won a staggering £88,000 after playing the EuroMillions lottery every week for seven years.

The group bought their first ticket in 2015 and made the last-minute decision to use their “change” to buy a one-time Daily Millions ticket.
