Jack and Rose are gone, but Leo and Kate’s friendship continues.
Kate Winslet said she “can’t stop crying” when she reunited with her old friend Leonardo DiCaprio after 3 years apart.
The “Titanic” co-stars were able to meet face-to-face in Los Angeles after a long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic and cherish their time together.
“I can’t stop crying,” Winslet said Guardians. “I’ve known him half a human life! It’s not as if I found myself in New York or he was in London and had the opportunity to have dinner or coffee and chat. We were unable to leave our country.
“Like so many friendships around the globe, we missed each other because of Covid. He’s my friend, my really close friend. We stick together for life.”
It’s been almost 25 years since the two played Jack and Rose in 1997’s “Titanic,” which at the time, became the highest-grossing film of all time before being overtaken by Avatar, another of its own films. director James Cameron passed.
They have been together forever since the iconic film and also starred together as husband and wife in the 2008 film “Revolutionary Road”, which earned Winslet a 2009 Golden Globe Award for female. Best lead actor in a movie.
Winslet, 46, and DiCaprio, 47, have known each other since they were in their twenties and have become a huge star of “Titanic”.
“I turned 21 in that scene, and Leo was 22,” she told The Guardian.
DiCaprio is notoriously hard at work in the rush to produce movies.
“I remember! I remember that he used to be!” Winslet said. “It wasn’t pleasant for any of us, but we were all in it. Even though he’s got more days off than I’ve ever seen. I think I’ve grown to be grateful and continue with it.
“I don’t feel it’s my right to suffer, and if I was, I certainly wouldn’t have let a journalist know. There’s no way I’m letting that slide!”
One of the most recent a public reunion between Winslet and DiCaprio arrived in 2017 for DiCaprio’s annual auction gala in Saint-Tropez, France for his foundation. “Titanic” villain Billy Zane also joined them at the event.
Winslet and DiCaprio also made “Titanic” fans swoon in 2016 when they Reunion on the red carpet at the Oscars, where Winslet was later shown to have a stunning reaction when DiCaprio took home his first Academy Award for his performance in “The Revenant.”
