It took WAYNE ROONEY less than five minutes to settle on the DC United job, telling his friends, “It comes at the perfect moment.”
The ex-England and Manchester United legend landed in the States as he embarked on his new American adventure.
His decision to take over the Washington-based club comes just weeks after he left Derby County.
But the 36-year-old is “delighted” to be back in football.
A source said: “There have been reports Wayne might take time off from the game for a while – but that was never his intention.
“He was interested in television and expert work, but in his heart he wanted to get back on the bench as soon as possible.
“So when the call came from DC United, within five minutes he was sure it was the right move.
“In many ways it’s the perfect job because it will allow him to continue his fledgling coaching career without so many eyes on him.
“Wayne loved his time in Derby County, but he was always in the spotlight.
“There will be less of that in America and he’s just looking forward to putting his head down and coaching the team.”

Meanwhile, The Sun are able to reveal that Wayne has already exchanged messages with ex-teammate Phil Neville, Inter Miami manager.
“They had a bit of banter over text,” the source added.
“Inter and DC will be playing in a few months and Wayne is looking forward to playing with Phil.
“Wayne has ambitions to one day return to England and do business here and he sees this as a stepping stone to the future.”
Rooney will NOT be joined in America by wife Coleen and their four sons.
She decides to stay in Cheshire with the children.
