WAYNE ROONEY has named four Manchester United legends who could take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

And to the Red Devils’ dismay, he doesn’t think the 2008 United side – who won the Premier League and Champions League – could beat them over a full season.

Instead, Rooney believes they would be more like Liverpool.

The ex-England skipper also revealed he would have loved to have played alongside the record-breaker Erling Haland And Kevin De Bruyne.

Rooney also revealed how he uses Guardiola as an example to improve his own coaching.

He added: “I would have liked to have played under Guardiola.

“I look at how he develops people as players and individuals, what he does John Steine and how it played out Jack Grealish.

“He’s an incredible coach. You can see how he has changed his defensive line this season, Nathan Aké’s progress and so many examples of his work.

“You see someone constantly working on their team’s form and finding new ways to break the opposition.

“As a manager, I’m amazed.”
