Watford manager next odds – Fabio Cannavaro favorite against Frank Lampard and Paulo Fonseca with Ranieri on the brink

FABIO CANNAVARO is the favorite player to replace Claudio Ranieri as head coach of Watford.

That’s according to the bookies Betfair, who updated their next management market as pressure mounts on Ranieri at Vicarage Road.

The Italians replaced Xisco in October but have been unable to stop the rot.

The 70-year-old has only collected 7 points from a possible 39 since arriving at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets – in addition to wins over Everton and Manchester United – have lost 11 of their 14 league games under Ranieri.

Their latest loss to relegation rivals Norwich sent Watford down into the relegation zone but they still have valuable matches in their hands.

The result is, Ranieri is an incredible 1/50th favorite as the next top flight boss to take on his duties.

The club’s owners, the Pozzo family, are known for their ruthless dealings with managers with Ranieri their 10th appointment in seven years.

But who will replace Ranieri?

Betfair believes Cannavaro is the front-runner by 2/1 after beating previous favorites Frank Lampard and Paulo Fonseca.

The Italian legend – who won the World Cup and Ballon d’Or in 2006 – was recently interviewed to replace Rafa Benitez at Everton.

But the 48-year-old can be seen as a big risk as he has never managed in Europe.

Cannavaro has worked at Guangzhou Evergrande, Al-Nassr, Tianjin Quanjian and briefly as head coach of the Chinese national team, he lost both of his matches.

Free agent Lampard is behind in the betting market at 4/1, with Fonseca slightly behind at 6 seconds.

Daniel Farke, who was sacked as Norwich manager in November, is 8/1 behind Bournemouth boss Scott Parker.

Rafa Benitez is offered 11/1 for a quick first-team return, while Mark Hughes is 16/1.
