Waterloo Region donates $50,000 worth of PPE to local arts and culture community

Waterloo Region is providing $50,000 worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) free of charge to local members of the arts and cultural community.
The Regional Economic Development Board has approved funding for the initiative, which will make PPE available for pickup from the Pinebush Immunization Clinic in Cambridge in January.

“With the community now beginning to bring people together to experience culture, we intend to support local arts and culture organizations in their work while adhering to guidelines public health guidelines,” said Regional Economic Development Commission Chairwoman Helen Jowett.
The region said similar moves were made in the travel, hospitality and food services sectors throughout 2021.

“It is time to expand the program to support that sector,” a statement from the region said.
The district said the kits will contain PPE sponsored by local industry partners and include masks and shields, disinfectants, disinfectant wipes and information on public health measures.
