Moments earlier, the Brazilian was at a loss as he attacked down the left flank.

The South American forward flew over the wing and appeared to beat right-back Dimitri Foulquie at pace.

But as he neared the edge of the box, Valencia centre-back Eray Comert spotted a second ball on the field – which was inside the box.

Realizing the danger the flying Real man posed, Comert kicked the dead ball at Vinicius, knocking the active ball out of play.

The incident also brought down the Brazil star before he got back up to scold the referee.

And fans on social media were divided over Comert’s unsportsmanlike conduct.

One said: “Elite s***housery.”

But another user expressed a different opinion, saying: “The way the whole situation was handled was a joke, it didn’t surprise me that he ended up getting sent off.”

Shortly after the two-ball incident, Vinicius pointed to a fan behind the goal after allegedly being the victim of racial slurs.

The game was temporarily halted before a chaotic injury-time brawl resulted in Vinicius Jr being sent off after a VAR check.

And Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was furious with the whole handling of the situation.

He said: “You can’t play football like that. It’s too serious, they throw a ball on the field, they constantly insult Vinicius and take the red card from him.”

He then added: “What are we talking about? The year is 2023, there can be no racism. We have to go home.”
