Watch the shocking moment an ALLIGATOR nicknamed “Marty” takes to the track and leaves his horse petrified

An alligator nicknamed “Marty” left a horse spooked Friday as it entered the Delta Downs circuit during a nine-race meeting.
A video posted to Facebook by viewer Joe Allen shows Marty calmly crossing the dirt track while a handler struggles to control his horse.
Viewers took to Twitter to react to the incident, with one person saying, “I think this alligator is well known over there, they have a name for it and everything.”
Another added: “I’ve heard of horses ‘coming out from behind a tree’ to win with a great final straight from the back of the field… but alligators/crocs appearing from behind a fence post? This is a first for me.”
Another fan said, “Wow…think the croc is in the wrong place lol.”
However, others have argued that the horse should have been removed from the area immediately.
One person said, “This horse knows it doesn’t want to be near that thing!”
Another added: “The horse has more sense than the handler.”
Several alligators live at the Delta Downs racetrack in southwest Louisiana, with similar incidents dating back to 2010.
It is believed that the predators are attracted to the area because of the dams and maggots around the track.

This isn’t the first time a sporting event has been disrupted by one of these creatures.
During last year’s World Golf Championship, Rory McIlroy competed to putt within yards of a sleeping alligator.
And earlier this year, golfers in Bonita Bay, Florida were stunned when one strolled across the green.
