Fans have been watching events closely to find out who will come out on top through May 28th.

But they got a welcome respite from all the intense competition when a regular cyclist was accidentally caught up in it.

Video footage from Cycling Podcast 53×11 captures the hilarious moment a woman tripped on the course of the Giro d’Italia.

The crowds gathered at the side of the road would have expected the likes of Geraint Thomas to fly past.

But instead, the normal cyclist was greeted by cheering onlookers when she suddenly appeared.

The woman can be seen grinning as she leisurely walks past the adoring admirers.

She then wipes her face with a cloth, having managed to escape her new fanbase.

The cyclist would still have work to do to catch up with the actual Giro d’Italia leaders who are actually in the race.
