Watch Man Utd’s Cristiano Ronaldo ‘show respect’ by not stepping on Man City badge… but fan gives wild response

CRISTIANO RONALDO showed ‘respect’ to Manchester City by deliberately not stepping on his badge at the weekend.
The Portuguese striker was an unused substitute as Manchester United were defeated 6-3 by their neighbors at the Etihad.

In video footage that has surfaced since the game, keen-eyed social media users have noted that Ronaldo deliberately did everything he could not to step on a City badge on the ground inside the stadium.
The 37-year-old’s horde of loyal online fans were keen to point this out, believing it showed the veteran’s class.
One wrote: “I’m sure if Ronaldo stepped on the Man City badge you wouldn’t hear the ending.”
A second tweeted: “Ronaldo didn’t step on the City badge yesterday. He went right next to it. A man of respect.
However, others saw the funny side, with one posting a screenshot of Ronaldo’s foot touching the badge’s rim and commenting: “VAR CHECK…
“Ronaldo was sent off and banned for 3 games for stepping on the Man City badge.”
Another added wildly: “Nice of him avoiding the pitch (sic)”
Ronaldo spent the duration of the game on the bench and looked frustrated as five other substitutions came on ahead of him.

Coach Erik ten Hag justified his decision after the game by saying that it was made out of “respect”.
The Dutchman said: “I wouldn’t take him out of respect for Cristiano – because of his great career.”
However, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane didn’t believe that explanation and criticized United for ‘disrespecting’ his former team-mate.
Since the game, it has emerged that Man United “won’t stand in the way” of Ronaldo if he can seal a transfer exit in January.
Keane claims CR7 had “five” options over the summer only for United to block potential moves.
