LENNOX LEWIS once taught Deontay Wilder how to jab in a parking lot, two years before the American became world champion.
The throwback footage was shared on Twitter by boxing fan Jorge Alvarado and shows Wilder all ears for a boxing legend’s lessons.
Wilder won his first world title in 2015 when he passed Bermane Stiverne – and he has Lewis to thank for his rise to the top.
The two boxers met in 2013 in a parking lot that appears to be in front of a hotel.
Lewis begins, “So my hands here, don’t fall back to throw, it’s coming right from here.”
Lewis then hurls out a snapping left jab while moving his feet.
Wilder, wearing an oversized purple shirt, then attempts to repeat the move.
Lewis lets the American know it’s “a lot better” before telling him to “stop”.
The Canadian-born Brit then lifts Wilder’s left hand a few inches and tells him to “throw from there”.
He adds: “So that tells you I actually got you closer to the goal. So you are now closer to the goal.

“You know, it doesn’t have to start from here.
“I have more to show you, but that’s enough for today.”
Wilder goes on to thank Lewis and says he “appreciates” it.
He adds, “You know what it takes to be a champion and I’m someone trying to get there.”
Lewis then looks ahead and replies, “You will man.”
Wilder successfully defended the WBC heavyweight belt ten times before being sensationally stopped by Tyson Fury in 2020.
The Bronze Bomber then made an unsuccessful attempt to win him back and was KO’d by the Gypsy King in his trilogy in November 2021.
The pair battled to a draw in their first duel of 2018 – many believed Fury had done enough to win on the scorecards.
Wilder is now considering his future in the sport at the age of 36.
