GERVONTA DAVIS brutally punched Rolando Romero – and revealed it wasn’t even his strongest punch.
The undefeated American star settled his feud with Romero in style outside a sold-out Barclays Arena in New York.
And the fight didn’t quite go its way and was all it took to go into the sixth round.
But in increasingly typical style, Davis ended the show in moments, leaving Romero dazed and confused.
The challenger charged in with a combination, but Davis countered with a perfectly timed left hook.
It sent Romero headlong into the ropes – which in turn prevented him from getting face down in the front row.
The brave contender stood up, but was in no condition to continue boxing when the fight came to a halt.
Davis, 27, immediately rushed to the top ropes in celebration, even goading a semi-conscious Romero, 26.
But later, the two-division champion, who was defending his WBA “Regular” lightweight belt, saluted his rival.
And he likened his KO to Juan Manuel Marquez’s obnoxious right hand that obliterated Manny Pacquiao in 2012.

Davis said, “The crazy thing is I didn’t even throw it that hard, I just threw it. He just ran right in.
“It’s like when Pacquiao got caught. I didn’t even throw it hard, I just set it up. Boom, he just ran straight in.”
Romero, who was beaten for the first time in 15 fights, was pushed out of the ring accompanied by his father Rolando Sr.
Davis said, “Thank God he’s fine. He will be able to fight again in 90 days.”
