And he watched Asakura make a brilliant start in the opening stages, landing on body and keeping Mayweather at bay.

The self-proclaimed “Best Ever” had to dodge heavy artillery coming his way.

Mayweather accelerated towards the end of the opening lap when he started firing his famous piston-like right hand.

The second turned out to be full action, with the American starting in front.

Mayweather, 45, landed a series of behindhand shots, both to the head and body.

But Asakura, 30, fired back and even landed a perfect counterattack with a right hook that snapped Mayweather’s head back.

That was indeed the beginning of the end as the 50-0 boxing icon turned up the pressure.

Asakura had no defense against a barrage of right hands coming his way, and he was eventually knocked down as the bell rang.

He did his best to get to his feet, but veteran referee Kenny Bayless waved him off, his legs shaking.

It ended with six action-packed minutes as Mayweather triumphed in his fourth exhibition fight in as many years.

He said, “I want to thank the whole country of Japan. Incredible country, incredible people.

“An exciting, crazy participation, applause for this tough competitor.”

Pacquiao, 43, who retired last year, then entered the ring and hugged Mayweather.

It came after Mayweather said: “Another legend here, eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

“Great Champion. Incredible World Champion.”

Mayweather officially retired in 2017 after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 34, in ten rounds.

But he returned a year later, beating featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 24, in one round of a RIZIN-promoted card.

Mayweather is expected to meet YouTuber Deji, 25, in Dubai in November but warned he will soon be back in the Far East.

He said: “Thank you for having me, I’ll be back.”
