Watch Ederson make one of the saves of the season as he deflects Mo Salah’s shot just around the post in the Liverpool v Man City game

EDSERSON thwarted Mo Salah and fooled referee Anthony Taylor – with one of the saves of the season.
The Manchester City keeper took a full-length lunge to deflect Salah’s shot behind him – only for a goal kick to be missed and the Liverpool striker soon found a brilliant strike.

And although Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was later sent off over a complaint about officials, Ederson’s betting round caused equal excitement on social media.
His movement was so quick, his touch so light, that Taylor didn’t notice – and he wasn’t awarded a corner.
But fans on social media were left stunned by Ederson’s save, furious that no corner was awarded for it – and even more furious that Salah’s effort was NOT counted as a shot on target because the referee awarded a goal kick.
an armchair watcher posted: “Ederson makes an ‘incredible save’ and then takes a shot on goal.”
Another hit: “It’s inexplicably awarded as a goal kick. What??!!”
Salah had coped halfway after first touch play split City’s defence.
And some fans noted that no matter how excellent Ederson’s dive save, Salah could have rolled the ball over for Diogo Jota to fire home from 20 yards.

One tweeted: “GNev (commentator Gary Neville) totally ignores the fact that if he makes it it’s a definite goal.”
Typical views were: “Brilliant save but Mo should have taken it, great game. What football is about.”
