The Portuguese found the top corner with a stylish finish, whipping the ball to smash the Swans keeper at his near post.

Cedric played the entire match in the comeback win, with youngster Joel Ideho leveling in the 18th minute.

Summer signing Fabio Vieira lasted 45 minutes as he continued his road to recovery from a foot injury while Mikel Arteta looked on in the stands.

The £34million star missed pre-season with the problem but has been in training since late July and is slowly making his way back into competition.

Emile Smith Rowe also struggled with groin problems and started against Swansea U21s before being substituted at half-time.

But the England international is perhaps closer to full fitness than Vieira, having played six minutes in last Saturday’s 4-2 win over Leicester.

Interestingly, Vieira acted further forward than Smith Rowe against the Swans, suggesting the Portuguese plays a more advanced role once he’s ready for the game.

Vieira offers Arsenal versatility with Arteta revealing the 22-year-old has played in a variety of positions in training.

When asked about Vieira’s best position, Arteta said: “That’s what the player will tell us.

“We’re already testing him in training in different positions and he’s played on the left, right, false nine and attacking midfielder, so it’s good.

“He doesn’t want to be trapped in a position because he’s so used to it and that’s a really positive thing for us.”
