Was Lil Tjay Shot?

Lil Tjay, 21, was reportedly shot dead in New Jersey when a man opened fire during an attempted robbery at a mall in Edgewater.

The star, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was reportedly wounded multiple times.

A New York City man was charged with attempted murder after the incident.

Authorities have described it as a botched robbery attempt, according to a press release from the Bergen County Attorney’s Office.

In addition to being charged with attempted murder, 27-year-old Mohamed Konate has been arrested on armed robbery and weapons-related charges, the press release said.

How is Lil Tjay?

Rumors circulating on social media that the rapper was dead have been debunked.

The Bergen County Attorney’s Office shared one To update confirms the shooting victim, believed to be Lil Tjay, has been taken from critical to stable condition.

And some media reports said the Bronx-born rapper underwent surgery after the incident.

Law enforcement officials tell TMZ the rapper underwent emergency surgery and appears to be doing better.

However, the extent of his injuries and his current condition were not immediately known.

One claimed law enforcement said one victim was taken to hospital in critical condition but is now “stable”.

And the other victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Northjersey reports.

Who else got shot?

Two friends identified by authorities as Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22, were with Tjay at the time of the shooting.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found Merritt “with multiple gunshot wounds” and Boyd “with a single gunshot wound.”

The rapper’s companions were arrested and charged with illegal gun possession.
