Warning to millions of Pokémon Go users – you could be in danger of losing access to Raids in a huge controversial update

POKÉMON Go has confirmed that a major controversial change to raids is coming.

Dataminers had already examined the code and determined that there would be impending limitations.

Remote Raids are a way for players to access raids from remote or rural areas.

Those who don’t live near Pokémon Gyms often use these raid passes to participate and catch rare mons.

Currently, Remote Raid Passes cost 100 coins each, or 300 coins for three.

Players can only earn a maximum of 50 coins per day and otherwise have to buy coins with real money.

However off April 6, 2023, the price will increase, so one pass will cost 195 coins and three 525 coins.

This almost doubles the price of passes, making remote raids unaffordable for many players.

There will also be a limit on how many Remote Raids players can participate per day.

There is currently no limit on raids or remote raids as long as you have enough passes.

After the changes, there will be a cap of five remote raids per day.

In a statement, Niantic went into the reason for the changes.

It states: “Since their introduction in 2020, Remote Raid Passes have dominated the Pokémon Go gaming experience in ways we never intended.

“Rewarding trainers with additional Candy XL and adding more new features are two of the ways we hope to further incentivize playing Pokémon Go in person with your friends, family and community.

“We plan to keep Remote Raid Passes as part of Pokémon Go.

“However, we believe this change is necessary for the long-term health of the game, and we’re not making it lightly.

“We believe this is a necessary step towards our goal of preserving and enhancing the unique experience of playing Pokémon Go – a game we hope you will continue to enjoy in the future.”

Players are calling these changes the “worst in the history of the game” with over 2,500 comments discussing the news.
