Voters won’t forgive Sajid Javid if he doesn’t fix the NHS

Reduce NHS waste to improve care

SAJID JAVID will have £12billion more left over for the NHS from Wednesday.

That’s how much hard-pressed Brits will have to come up with when the dreaded NI tax hike begins to bite.

The Minister of Health must begin immediately to improve the pitiful state of our maternity wards.

Last weeks Baby death scandal in Shropshirerevealed the massive error at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust was truly appalling.

But England’s health watchdog found that out Two out of five maternity wards are potentially unsafe.

A staggering 80 out of 193 stations — 41 percent — are either inadequate or in need of improvement.

It’s bad enough that second-rate managers and an obsession with natural births have caused the needless deaths of mothers and babies in Shropshire.

But such ingrained and dangerous incompetence in maternity hospitals across the country is totally unacceptable.

There is clearly an urgent need to transform healthcare spending to reduce waste and improve care.

Voters are already rightly angry at having to pay higher taxes in such a painful cost-of-living crisis.

You won’t forgive Mr Javid if he doesn’t fix the NHS.

Storm warning from PM

BORIS JOHNSON is just beginning to reap the hurricane of the cost of living crisis.

A new poll shows even the rural voters the Tories have traditionally relied on are leaving the party in droves.

While 46 percent backed the prime minister in the 2019 general election, support has plummeted to 38 percent.

More than two-thirds said the government is doing too little to boost rural economies.

And Labor hovers just a few points behind core Tory areas.

There is only one issue on which voters are concerned: how to cope with the staggering increases in household bills.

When Boris does not wake up to this threat, it will overwhelm him.

The dreadful Tory results in May’s local elections are now a racing certainty.

Of course, the prime minister had to deal with the dual disasters of the pandemic and the pandemic war in Ukraine.

It’s not the government’s fault that global supply chains have pushed up prices.

But he and Chancellor Rishi Sunak need to do much more to help voters weather this perfect financial storm. Before it is too late.
