Virginia Tech ‘active shooter’ – Blacksburg, Virginia shelter with potentially ‘big suspect’ on campus

ONE TERM is in effect at Virginia Tech due to concerns about an active shooter and the potential for multiple suspects in general.
Virginia Tech continues to send students updates through social media alerts.
The latest update from Virginia Tech has been posted Twitter at 12:59 am.
“VT Alert (NRV): Update on Fired Shots West Roanoke St / Draper Rd. Continue to ensure site safety. Emergency personnel are on the scene. Call 911 for help.”
The first tweet was posted at 11:58 pm.
“VT Alert (NRV): Gun person reported near West Roanoke St./Draper Rd,” it read.
“Stay inside. Safe door.
“Emergencies are responding. Call 911 for help.”
Another tweet was posted shortly after.
The Virginia Institute of Technology building for Policy and Governance is located on the corner of W Roanoke and Draper Streets, although it has not been confirmed where in the vicinity of these streets the shots were fired.
The downtown area of Blacksburg is home to a number of shops and restaurants along with a number of campus buildings.
People in the vicinity are urged to stay indoors, stay away from windows and lock doors while officials work to secure the area.
The investigation is underway.
