Virgil Abloh, art director of Louis Vuitton dies after battling cancer

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Designer and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh passed away Sunday after a private battle with cancer, according to a tweet by luxury brand LVMH. He is 41 years old.
“LVMH, Louis Vuitton and Off White are heartbroken to announce that Virgil Abloh has passed away on Sunday, November 28, from cancer he had been battling privately for several years. ”
Abloh was the first African-American to head a major European fashion house when Louis Vuitton selected him as its menswear designer in 2018.
“We are all shocked after this terrible news, Virgil is not only a genius designer, a visionary, he is also a man of beautiful soul and great intellect. great,” the tweet read.
A statement from the Abloh family on the designer’s Instagram account says that for more than two years, Abloh has been heroically battling a rare, aggressive form of cancer, angiosarcoma.
“He has chosen to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing several rounds of challenging treatment, all while running a number of key organizations including fashion, art and culture.”
Abloh is survived by his wife Shannon Abloh and his children, Lowe and Grey.
