Victor Lindelof casts doubt on Man Utd future as he reveals he will hold transfer talks with Erik ten Hag

VICTOR LINDELOF has expressed doubts about his future at Manchester United and has hinted he will hold talks with the club at the end of the season.

The Sweden defender has been at Old Trafford for six years after being signed by Jose Mourinho.

But this season it has been difficult for him to get his hands on first-team football as the club bought reinforcements to bolster their defence.

Lindelof is now arguably the fourth pick behind Rafael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and club captain Harry Maguire.

The 28-year-old is now on international duty but faced questions from reporters about life at Old Trafford and what the future might hold for him.

When asked if it was frustrating not playing more regularly, Lindelof said: “Obviously, like any player, you want to play every game and obviously I haven’t done that this season.

“But I haven’t thought about that yet, at the moment my focus is on the national team and then of course the rest of the season with the club and then we have to reassess in the summer and see what’s best.

“But like I always say, when I come here it’s a pleasure to be here and I’m very happy to represent my country and I’m really looking forward to the games we have.”

Varane and Martinez’s impressive partnership for United has relegated Lindelof to the sidelines.

The star also had to watch as left-back Luke Shaw occasionally covered for one of the defenders while staying on the bench.

Lindelof has made 217 appearances for United but has made just nine appearances in the Premier League this season, compared with 28, 29 and 35 games in the last three seasons.

His contract expires at the end of next season and a potential move to Inter Milan could be on the cards, according to reports.

Speculation also surrounds Maguire, who may face similar frustrations over his lack of football.

The former Leicester defender has been linked with a shock move to PSG in recent weeks.
