On Tuesday, Vanna, 66, tweeted Pat’s stunning announcement from the day before.

She wrote, “When we launched ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ who knew we’d still be on it 41 seasons later?”

“I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you all these years and there’s more to come. Cheers to you @patsajak!”

Many fans believe Pat’s daughter Maggie Sajak will be named as his successor, Maggie is currently acting as his social media correspondent.

But Wheel of Fortune fans quickly realized that Vanna didn’t seem in any way to indicate that she would leave the popular game show behind.

Maggie, 27, could theoretically fill Vanna’s role and Vanna could probably switch from the puzzle board to the wheel.

“WILL YOU HOST?”

In fact, several fans commented that this scenario was very clear in the responses.

One person commented, “Are you getting the gig?”

Another asked, “Are you going to stay with the show or are you going to retire next year too Vanna?”

A third wondered: “Are you going to be the host and writing @MaggieSajak letters?”

A fourth simply wrote: “You and Pat were a great team.”

But a fourth had to admit: “I hope you will be the presenter (if you want the performance), Vanna! You did a great job filling in for Pat while he was recovering from surgery. Maggie could be the letter turner!”

FINAL SPIN

On June 12, 2023, Pat unexpectedly announced that he would be retiring from Wheel of Fortune at the end of the next season.

Pat, 76, told fans in a personal message on Twitter: “Well the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last.”

“It has been a wonderful ride and I will have more to say in the coming months.”

Pat will host until June 2024 and then step down.

Ageless Vanna previously made it clear she didn’t want to go anywhere, calling the prospect of retirement “depressing”.

It’s happened before

Accordingly The New York Times Vanna briefly filled in for Pat in 2019 when he needed emergency surgery to repair a blocked bowel.

While Vanna replaced Pat at the wheel, his daughter Maggie actually took over Vanna’s duties at the puzzle board

Maggie or Vanna are the only internal choices, as announcer Jim Thornton stepped in in place of Pat to host a bonus round earlier this season, which raised some eyebrows.

SONY’s vice president of game shows, Suzanne Prete, said in a statement to Variety that Pat will remain as a “show consultant” for the next three years.

Maggie tweeted the news that she’s not going anywhere either, “So much fun working with my dad… and we look forward to even more fun in Season 41.”
