Vanderpump Rules fans slam Tom Schwartz as a ‘big baby’ for his ‘disgusting’ post-divorce comments about Katie Maloney

VANDERPUMP Rules fans have ripped Tom Schwartz for his treatment of his ex-wife Katie Maloney before their split.

The Bravo star has been candid about his struggles to cope with the divorce.

On Wednesday’s new episode of Vanderpump Rules, Tom, 40, was shown preparing for the grand opening of his and Tom Sandoval’s newest venture, Schwartz and Sandy’s.

He and his business partner and best pal were seen putting the finishing touches on the bar and restaurant ahead of a big party, at which time the Florida native made a candid confession.

“I’m glad Katie is coming over here and looking at all this because I mean, dude, I don’t need to go to therapy to know that I can’t blame this place for the downfall of our frigging marriage,” he said .

Sandoval replied, “I would say it was a good portion.”

Footage then aired of them chatting with an investor about the strain opening a restaurant can take on relationships.

Sandoval joked, “You lost your house,” before Schwartz stepped in, “and all my money.”

Schwartz’s longtime friend then held out his arms and assured him with a smile, “Hey, you still have me.”

While the moment seemed lighthearted, fans on Twitter were quick to recall Schwartz’s treatment of his now-ex Katie.

Another fan wrote: “I feel for Katie. That bar was definitely a big part of their divorce. I’m sure she wishes Tom wouldn’t do it.”

During the season 10 premiere, Schwartz revealed how much he’s been struggling following his breakup with Katie.

He gave fans a glimpse into why his wife decided to walk away, also confessing to some money and mental health issues.

Katie kicked off the explosive premiere when she told Bravo viewers: “After 12 years together and five years married, last winter I went to Tom and asked for a divorce.”

She added, “We had a lot of issues … I was never a priority for him.”

For his part, Schwartz revealed, “She laid it all out and it made perfect sense. I probably can’t give you the specifics because I was so upset that I wasn’t really listening, but I also don’t want to ask her again because that’s one of the reasons she broke up with me [is] because I’m not a good listener.

“Long story short, I just didn’t know how to make her happy.”

The pair were adamant that they had decided to remain friends and were committed to maintaining that relationship no matter what.

Later in the episode, however, Schwartz spoke even more openly about his mental and financial state after the divorce.

He and Sandoval caught up while putting the finishing touches on Schwartz & Sandy’s.

They chatted for a while about plans for a pre-opening party, after which Sandoval revealed, “At this point, we’ve put $1 million into the project.”

The dejected Schwartz was obviously a bit overwhelmed with all the preparations, as he shared with his friend: “Dude I’m like a goddamn king drowning man.

“I’m losing my house through the divorce.”

He continued, “You know how shitty it is to have a mortgage right now? $6,000 for it. This is my share. Then I have $3,500 in rent.

It doesn’t appear to be the first time that fans have seen one of the Toms stressed out about their new restaurant.

A trailer for the upcoming season teases the big drama and tensions between them over getting the restaurant up and running.

While her ex struggled a lot during the premiere, Katie appeared to be largely fine.

She even joked once during the episode while chatting with her friend Ariana Maddox, “Sometimes I’m like, oh, it would be really great to have Tom here because I have to move boxes.”
