Usain Bolt leads Man Utd fans fury as Rashford goal ruled out for handball by VAR just hours after Antonio’s goal

USAIN BOLT led the anger of Manchester United fans as Marcus Rashford ruled out a goal for a harmless handball – hours after West Ham were allowed TWO GOALS after a more obvious handling.

Social media erupted in confusion as VAR disallowed Rashford’s strike in Sunday night’s 2-1 win at Everton.

Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio had previously benefited from clearer offenses as West Ham beat Fulham 3-1.

Fans called the inconsistencies a “shame” and expert Gary Lineker tweeted to blame a “silly stupid” new law.

Sprint legend Bolt, whose dream was to play for United, posted: “How’s that a handball?”

The rules state that a goal must be disallowed if the goalscorer treats – even if it’s accidental.

And ex-England striker Lineker joined the online debate by declaring: “The Rashford goal was ruled out by VAR for a totally unintentional handball. Stupid, stupid law.”

An armchair spectator added to the mockery by pointing out: “Antonio handles the ball on purpose and Rashford didn’t, but Antonio scored, ruling out Rashford’s goal.”

And another observer commented: “If Rashford passed the ball instead of scoring directly, the goal would stand.

“The handball rule is constantly being refined and improved. It will never be perfect. But this current definition leads to such absurd decisions.”

Antonio’s goal, in which he palmed the ball in his path, was particularly controversial.

But it was Scamacca’s earlier strike that sparked a lengthy VAR review over his handling.

One fan wrote: “This is why people have issues with VAR and how the rules are interpreted.

“Exactly the same thing used to happen to Scamacca where it bounced on his arm and was allowed but they didn’t allow Rashford’s goal for that.”

And the overall view was summed up by this tweet: “Antonio scored a goal and it was counted as a goal but Rashford’s goal was disallowed for handball? A JOKE!”
