LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Travel will soon be a bit more expensive for those who need to apply or renew their passports.
Starting Monday, December 27, the US passport book fee will increase by $20 for all customers.
“The fee increase is necessary to ensure we continue to create one of the safest travel and identification documents in the world,” according to a State Department tweet.
A first-time or replacement adult passport will cost $165, while passport renewal will cost $130.
Visitors under 16 years old will be charged $135.
The State Department says it currently has applications in 8 to 11 weeks.
