Urgent warning to check your lotto tickets as $8m remains unclaimed – but a winner will only receive a fourth of prizes

LOTTERY contestants in Texas are being urged to check their tickets after a $8 million draw was won last week.
The Texas Lottery Commission announced that two Lone Star State lottery winners have scooped big prizes in the August 30 drawing.

One lucky winner takes home an estimated $6.25 million after purchasing the winning ticket at a Kroger in Pearland.
The ticket matched all six numbers drawn: 6-11-16-21-25-32.
At the time of purchase, the ticket holder chose the option to win a cash prize.
That means they take home about $3,584,452.28 before taxes.

As of Thursday, the huge prize was still unclaimed.
“We look forward to meeting and congratulating Lotto Texas’ second jackpot winner in August and fifth in 2023,” Texas Lottery chief executive Gary Grief said in a statement.
“Once you have the winning ticket, we encourage you to sign the ticket, keep it in a safe place, seek financial and legal advice, and call the Texas Lottery to schedule an appointment to claim your prize.”
The second – and smaller – prize was won in Austin, where the winning ticket was purchased at a Players Cafe at 7801 N. Lamar, Suite E216.
The lucky ticket holder won $2 million.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the new millionaire had won the huge prize.
Lottery winners in Texas have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their winnings.
The two mega wins came shortly after another Texas resident from Dallas bought a $17 million lottery ticket in August.
The next lottery draw in the state will be held on September 4th, with players hoping to win the massive $435 million jackpot.
