German teenager called David Colombo and his Twitter bio says he’s an “IT Security Expert & Hacker”.

Colombo said that he told Tesla’s security team about the hack and that they are investigating.

We have also reached out to Tesla for comment.

The hacker said he was able to access 25 Tesla cars in 13 different countries.

He tweeted on January 10: “So I currently have full remote control of over 20 Teslas in 10 countries and there seems to be no way to find the owner and report it to them. ..”

Silicon Republic then report that teenagers have actually managed to hack more Tesla cars.

The 19-year-old said the list of what he can control on vehicles is “quite long”.

He claims he can do things like remotely disable the “guard” mode on these vehicles.

He also said he can open windows and doors, start a keyless drive, turn on the lights and control music.

He tweeted: “I think it would be quite dangerous if someone could remotely play music at high volume or open windows/doors while you are on the highway.

“Even the constant flashing of lights can have some (dangerous) effects on other drivers.”

However, the hacker did not blame Tesla’s infrastructure.

He said it concerns the owners of the cars.

He said he will release more specifics once the vulnerability has been fixed and it cannot be exploited by anyone else.

A lot of security researchers look for vulnerabilities in the Tesla platform because the company pays them up to $15,000 if they discover a critical issue that needs to be addressed.
