Walmart Inc. and CVS Health Corp. both complained that manufacturers were experiencing supply difficulties while formula companies complained that retailers did not bring products to stores after delivery, according to the report.

Krishnakumar Davey, president of strategic analysis at retail research firm IRI, calls shortages infrequent.

Davey – which says the top 10 US retailers have more than 20% of baby formula out of stock by early 2022 – also notes that issues are retailer and location dependent.

Robert Rankin, executive director of the American Council on Infant Nutrition, said in a statement to the WSJ: “There is no shortage of infant formula from manufacturers.”

A spokesman for the group added: “Overall, there are reports of challenges across retail supply chains, from shipping and logistics to some anecdotal evidence of queuing behavior. into the pantry, which can put pressure on store inventory.”

Curt Covington, a top director at AgAmerica, told USA TODAY: “The shortage depends on the item, the store, and the region of the country.

“Shortages can be driven by supply chain issues, consumer behavior or environmental factors, so it’s hard to determine what will be impacted next.

Winter weather and personnel issues

USA TODAY explains that snowstorms in the northeastern US states and wildfires in Colorado are just some of the weather issues that have impacted product availability.

McDonald’s has reduced working hours by 10% due to staff shortage because Starbucks may also cut working hours, Fox Business report.

Starbucks lovers may also see some products missing or temporarily suspend mobile orders.

The coffee chain recently told customers it was working to remedy the situation, saying: “We will always make proactive decisions that prioritize the health and well-being of our customers and partners. we.”
