Urgent Direct Payments Deadline for Hundreds of Thousands of Americans Who Are Eligible for $150 in Travel and Gas Payments

THOUSANDS of Americans must act quickly to receive $150 in travel and gas payments as the deadline nears.

Direct transit and gas payments apply to eligible Chicago residents.

To apply, you must be a Chicago resident, be at least 18 years old, and have a current and valid city sticker with the correct shipping information for your vehicle.

Also, your income must be at or below 100 percent of the median income in Chicago, or $93,200 for a four-person household.

A lottery is held in the second week of every month until September to distribute the tickets.

Registration deadline for the next lottery is Monday August 1st.

Those selected will be notified by email.

Under the program, Chicago will issue up to 50,000 $150 prepaid fuel cards and 100,000 $50 prepaid transit cards.

MOUNT VERNON, NY

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon, New York, through a partnership with Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, will send $500 monthly payments to 200 residents for a year.

The application is available online until August 5th.

At the end of the window, 200 eligible applicants will be randomly selected to participate in the Universal Basic Income Pilot.

“We are committed to building a decent economy for Mount Vernon residents,” said Mayor Shawyn Patterson Howard.

“I fully support a guaranteed income for residents. I’m excited to join a coalition of innovative and forward-thinking mayors who are unafraid to push for critical resources for their community.”

The program is designed to complement any participants’ pre-existing financial safety nets, and there are no strings attached to the money.

Participants are paid via preloaded debit cards, eliminating the need for a bank account to apply.

There will also be a control group of 275 people who won’t receive the monthly payments but will receive a $30 gift card for taking surveys to track their overall well-being.
