Unopened original iPod goes on the auction block

An unopened and original iPod is currently being auctioned.

The first generation iPod was released in 2001 and cost $399. According to the latest auction, the iPod device was said to have been bought as a gift and left unopened on a shelf for more than a decade. In 2014, the product changed hands on eBay with a bid of $20,000. Four years later, the same item sold for $25,000 in an RR auction.

But the story of the unopened iPod doesn’t end there – it went through several changes of ownership on the same eBay platform before ending up in a private collection and in a museum and trading center called Rally. Rally items have a unique system whereby interested buyers can purchase “shares” of items and cash out when a collector wishes to purchase them outright.

Rally’s unopened and original iPod is said to fetch $29,000.
