Just a few minutes after stepping out of the ring on November 19, he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

The girlfriend of 20-year-old player Lacey Foster said she noticed Nathan “just trying to run away for breath” during the boxing match.

“Once I walked in there, I just had a really weird feeling,” she said.

Doctors said he was suffering internal bleeding and that he was severely injured after a ‘night fight’ organized by UNLV’s Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Lacey describes Nathan as an “active member” of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at UNLV.

Heartbroken Lacey continued: “They say they’ll try to do their best but they don’t know if he’ll make it.”

The kinesiology student succumbed to his injuries and died on November 23, just days before his birthday.

His organs have been donated to eight different people.

His grieving family promised they would “leave no trace to determine how a 20-year-old ended up in a school-approved amateur match that cost him in his life.”

Nathan’s loved ones have begged him to return to the boxing bout but he insists he does it for a good reason, according to reports.

They said in a statement that “mistakes were made and safety precautions overlooked” at the annual charity event.

“College students shouldn’t be placed in situations where they’re pitted against each other for combat,” it continued.

The family’s attorney insisted there was no immediate medical help and no professional arbitration.

Several other matches were held to raise funds for Center Ring Boxing, a northern valley gym that trains struggling youth.

Nathan’s brothers shared an Instagram post paying their respects to their late friend.

It read: “Our brother Nathan shows us nothing but love and will continue to do so from above.

“His strength and kindness were never lost and we are so grateful to have him as a brother.”

UNLV President Keith Whitfield called Nathan’s death a “tragic incident” and said they were looking into how they could make off-campus events happen safely.

He said: “We are shocked and heartbroken as we mourn the loss of one of us.

“Coping with life’s loss is always difficult, especially in circumstances like these.

“UNLV is committed to using all available resources to look into the matter and determine how off-campus events like this can be as safe as possible.”

A GoFundMe page for Nathan has raised more than $42,000.
