THOMAS FRANK claims Manchester United were ‘unbelievably lucky’ to win 3-1 as his Brentford side ‘smashed’ and ‘destroyed’ them.
The boss of bees Frank insists the Reds’ seventh-placed team ‘didn’t have a single hit’ in the goalless first half.
But Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood hit clinical goals as United finally ramped up the pace the beginning of the second period.
Sub Marcus Rashford scored the away team’s third goal, before Ivan Toney’s late reply.
And Frank told BT Sport: “Unbelievably proud of my team. We’re the smallest club in the Premier League, Manchester United are the biggest.
“We destroyed them in the first half, they didn’t have a sniff, three big chances and there can only be one winner in this game.
“They’re incredibly lucky. I know all about taking chances. They changed the system against little Brentford.
“One of those nights, let’s play fair with David de Gea, if we get those chances again, one man will shoot in the net.
“Our intensity killed them, we showed that in the first half we played the Brentford way.”

Frank thinks the killing moment is how Greenwood can double the lead for United.
“It’s unbelievable,” he said.
“A little bit of quality and they went 1-0 up and then it was too much trouble.
“Of the three goals conceded, the second was the most disappointing and difficult to come back.
“The way we smashed them in the first half was amazing.”
And in another dig into United’s dismal early period, Frank added: “They’ve got to step up, in the way that we’ve destroyed them, they’re not particularly happy with that, they’re the very popular candidate before the game.
“They get the goal and change the dynamics of the game.
“It says everything about the players, the mentality and the attitude with which we got past Man United and any other day we would have won.”
