In Kherson itself, which has been occupied for eight months, locals were drinking as the Russians retreated to the other side of the Dnipro River.

Ukrainian troops yesterday carried out “stabilization measures”, including the removal of explosives.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned that after fleeing, the Russians would reinforce their battle lines.

Meanwhile, a new work by British street artist Banksy arose on a building outside the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv – and has been hailed as a symbol of the nation’s strength.
