Russians fear as Ukraine continues its advance

Russian civilians question Putin’s actions in Ukraine as Zelenskyy’s troops close in on the Russian border.

A Russian in a town on the Russian-Ukrainian border wrote on the Facebook page of local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov: “I ask again: where is our army that has to protect us?

“We are on the border; They’re shooting at us, so we need an army and protection. Who wakes up the President?”

A terrified woman told the New York Times, “It’s like they’re already here.”

These fears come as Ukraine continues its determined counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region.

Although Ukraine’s encroachment on Russia is extremely unlikely, these fears reflect growing dissent among Russian people.
