UK weather forecast LIVE – Met Office issues a yellow thunderstorm warning for tomorrow’s Platinum Jubilee weekend

Mild conditions to continue today

Mild conditions will continue until Friday when Brits are set to sunbathe in 26C temperatures.

The remainder of the four day weekend looks a little more uncertain with patches of rain and potential thunder.

The warmest weather on Saturday and Sunday will be in north-west Scotland, with cooler breezes further south.

The Met Office’s deputy chief meteorologist Dan Rudman said: “Some may see a choppy start to the long weekend, with showers for Northern Ireland, Wales and western England, but for many it will be much calmer, with plenty of dry weather and good sunshine.

“Temperatures could reach 26C in the south on Friday, although that will likely be the warmest day and later in the weekend the highest temperatures will likely be in the north-west.

“A warm plume currently sweeping across the continent will then move north over the UK over the weekend.

“However, there is uncertainty as to how far north it will extend as the latest outlook suggests it will bring a series of showers to southern areas from Saturday, which could at times become heavy and potentially thunderstormy.

“Although there will be some cloudbursts here too and the northern areas will most likely remain nice and dry.

“Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England look set to experience their driest conditions from Saturday which will most likely enjoy some extended periods of sunshine.”
