UK weather forecast LIVE: Brits face torrential downpours and flooding as Met Office warns WASHOUT ahead of midweek

BRITS could be soaked by torrential downpours and flooding as a wet weather system headed from the Atlantic barrels towards the UK this week.
Scotland has flood warnings as the nation braces for a wet weather week of heavy rain and freezing winds.
A band of rain from the west will be driving storms along the coast from Tuesday, while thunder and lightning are likely later in the week.
Meteorologist Martin Bowles has warned that “further wet and windy weather” is expected in the North West from Monday evening, with showers set to move across the rest of the UK tomorrow.
The Met Office said of today’s weather: “Bands of rain or showers moving eastward over many parts, heavy in the east with a chance of thunder in the afternoon. Later drier and lighter in the west.
In its Tuesday outlook, the weather agency said: “Rain coming west on Tuesday, fragmenting into showers through Wednesday, mostly dry elsewhere.
“Warm until Wednesday. Maybe a thunderstorm in the east on Thursday.”
