Forecasters say BRITAIN will welcome in 2022 after the warmest New Year’s Eve on record – but much of Britain is under flood warnings.
Temperatures were set to be “particularly mild” this week before hitting a mellow 15C on Friday – warmer than April, when the mercury hovered around 14C on average.
ALMOST 50 flood warnings have been issued across England as riverbanks burst after torrential downpours ahead of a calm New Year’s Eve.
Amazingly, the weather will be fine on the south and southeast coasts as in Athens, Madrid and Rhodes.
And if the predictions are correct, those areas will be hotter than the record 14.8C recorded in Colwyn Bay, north Wales, in 2011.
