UK weather forecast – ‘Arctic plunge’ brings ‘Snow & hard frost’ this week as temperatures drop to -3C amid winter showers

The UK will be ravaged by snow, wind and rain over the next two weeks as extreme winter temperatures blanket the country, forecasters have warned.

Forecasters believe temperatures could drop to -3C in parts of the UK in the coming days – and warn February will be colder than January and December combined.

Met Office forecaster John Hammond said: “An arctic air wave looks set to sweep across the UK over the weekend, possibly seeing hard frost and some snow.

“Temperatures ahead are expected to average lower than most of winter, with more frequent infiltration of arctic air.”

He added: “A wetter and colder mix looks set as we head into March. Late snow is a possibility.”
