UFC legend Daniel Cormier is set to be the special guest referee for a major WWE crossover at Extreme Rules.
Cormier, 43, has been linked with a move to professional wrestling since 2018 and he’s finally making the jump at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania next Saturday.
DC will make its long-awaited WWE debut by refereeing a fight pit match between Seth Rollins and former MMA ace Matt Riddle.
MMA reporter Ariel Helwani tweeted: “Daniel Cormier will be the guest referee for next Saturday’s fight pit match between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins at the WWE Extreme Rules in Philly on October 8th.
“No seriously. It’s really happening. 8 Oct. Unbelievable.”
Cormier took to Instagram to confirm the news, calling himself “law” while also declaring he plans to be absolutely “impartial” in this new type of match.
Regulations dictate that the ring be converted into something akin to the Octagon, as the ropes are removed and replaced with a steel cage and catwalk.
The former UFC heavyweight champion teased that he could make some moves of his own as he warned the two competitors not to face him during the fight.
Cormier wrote: “I will be fair. i will be honest I will be impartial.
“The law has been convened and I will enforce it to the fullest with every part of me.”
