TYSON FURY was banned from fighting in junior competitions as a teenager because he weighed 14 KIT.
The bruised WBC heavyweight champion was an avid from a young age and was very short in training as well as equating his counterparts.
And the sheer size of the Teenage Gypsy King meant that former amateur coach Steve Egan didn’t get to see him compete until he was 16.
Egan told SunSport: “He was 6ft4in, 14 when he entered our gym at the age of 14 in 2002.
“One day I turned to my father and I said, ‘He’s going to be the heavyweight champion of the world.’
“I told Tyson he was going to be the heavyweight champion of the world; he didn’t tell me.
“He loved it because I told him he was going to be just as good. He started to believe it. We always had a good laugh.
“He didn’t fight in the Juniors because he was too big. He was too big for his age, so I couldn’t help him fight until he was 16.
“When he was 14, no one else was that big. Even when he was 15.
“So he has to wait until the age of 16 to be able to beat the 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds. So he can’t compete before that.”
Favorite fan Anger is one of the most confident fighters on the planet, but not always.
Egan recalls: “I remember one time – I think it was his first game – when we were measuring, he was wearing a red boot and a blue boot. He had two pairs. but it just takes it for a chuckle.
“Yes, we all giggled back then, very funny.
“There are times when he doubts himself, as a guy, when things don’t go his way in the gym, and he’ll say, ‘How can I be a champion? world when I can’t do this. “
Brother Shane was the cause of some Fury’s self-doubt, which Egan worked so hard to eradicate.
Egan said: “Once when he was evaluating his brother Shane, and Shane did well once, Tyson groaned, ‘How am I going to be a world champion when I can’t even hit a hit? defeat Shane, a newbie!’
“I told him, ‘Shane knows you better than anyone else, you’ve been messing with Shane since you were boys!
“” He’ll get better with you one day, that’s just one of them. No one else will know you like him.
“‘So today it’s all right for him, he knows where you’re from.”
“I said, ‘I wish I was as trash as you are.'”
Fury, 33, is currently preparing for a domestic get-together with his ex-partner Dillian Whyte.
SunSport understands that the pair’s much-anticipated Battle of England is scheduled for April 23, with the Principality Stadium in Cardiff as the candidate to host the match.
