Tyson Fury has NO obligatory challenger to answer, promoter Frank Warren says has dealt a blow to Dillian Whyte

TYSON FURY has no mandatory opponent for his heavyweight title due to Dillian Whyte’s legal proceedings against the WBC.

Whyte was expected to be assigned to fight the Gypsy King last week but will have to wait for the referee’s results to find out if he has a hand in his former teammate.

And Team Fury has no plans to wait for the outcome of the Brixton banger proceedings before deciding on their next move.

Advertiser Frank Warren said to have told talkSPORT: “Tyson Fury will be back in the ring in late February or early March.

“Due to the legal controversies involving Dillian Whyte, Tyson has no mandatory call to answer and is free to proceed to defend his belt and it’s a fight I would like to host in the UK. .”

Queensbury promotions director Warren insists Fury’s next move will not be affected by Whyte’s legal issues with the WBC.

He added: “It won’t affect Tyson.

“Tyson has made it very clear that he wants to fight late February/early March and that is what we are going for.

“Tyson just wants to stay active, he’s only had one battle in 22 months. Whatever happens to Dillian Whyte will work its way.

“Tyson has to make a decision as to who he is going to fight, the decision will be his.

“We will not be hindered by his problems. They are his for classification.

“Tyson is the world champion, not Dillian Whyte.

“He doesn’t set the ground rules here, it’s the champion that does it.”

Fan favorite Fury is excited to make his second WBC belt defense early next year and is happy to face whoever gets in front of him.

He said: “I thought I was going to fight Dillian Whyte but I don’t know what he’s going on in his private life with the WBC.

“He has a case going on in court and that’s great because I know how long arbitrations can take because my own arbitration with Deontay Wilder took 18 months.

“I hope he doesn’t get entangled in the long grass and I hope I don’t get forced into another fight as a way of self-defense.

“But I don’t care because they are all just my work, I will destroy them all as I have done all my life.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s Dillian Whyte, Dillian Blue or Dillian Grey.

“I don’t mind waiting around the others, I’ll rematch in February, early March at the latest, defending my WBC heavyweight world title.”
